Yobe school reopens, after shutting down for 12 years due to insurgencies
The Yobe State Government has reopened the Government Senior Day Secondary School in Bara, a significant achievement considering the school was closed for 12 years due to insurgency activities in the region.
Since 2012, Government Secondary Schools in Bara, Goniri, and Babbangida have been operating on a temporary basis at the Government Secondary School in Damaturu to ensure the continuity of education despite security challenges.
The newly appointed Principal of the School, Sulaiman Tamali, announced this reopening in Bara on Friday during a visit to the Gulani Local Government Council Chairman, Alhaji Dayyabu Njibulwa.
He explained that the purpose of his visit was to introduce himself to the chairman and seek a partnership to advance the school’s mission.
“With this partnership, together we will raise the standard of teaching and learning at the school,” Tamali said.
Njibulwa noted that the reopening of the school signalled a significant improvement in the security of the area and the state at large.
He pledged his support to the principal to help him fulfill his goals.
The chairman praised the state government and security agencies for their efforts in maintaining peace in the area.
