We are not behind Monday, Tuesday sit-at-home – IPOB
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a separatist group, has denied plans to implement a sit-at-home exercise for October 21 and 22 across any part of South-Eastern Nigeria.
The pro-Biafra faction has underscored its commitment to making public announcements regarding sit-at-home exercises, urging the public to disregard any orders issued by alleged criminals who are allegedly working to discredit IPOB.
Commercial activities in Aba, Abia State, and several other South-Eastern states were disrupted on Monday, October 21, following a sit-at-home declaration by suspected pro-Biafra organizations.
As of Monday morning, schools, banks, markets, and other businesses remained closed.
In a statement from IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, the group clarified its stance on enforcing sit-at-home orders without a legitimate reason.
He stated: “IPOB did not order a two-day sit-at-home, and we don’t want to create panic over such inconsequential directives from infiltrators.
“We chose not to issue a press statement on an inconsequential order from these infiltrators.
“IPOB is not in the habit of threatening Ndigbo. Whenever we declare a sit-at-home, we make it public. Our people should ignore such obnoxious orders from criminals working for the government to tarnish the peaceful image of the IPOB movement.”
