Legendary Nigerian musician King Sunny Ade has publicly refuted claims made by his daughter, Damilola Esther Adeniyi-Adegeye, alleging that he was missing or kidnapped.
In a statement released on his official Instagram account, King Sunny Ade affirmed that he is “alive, well, and grateful for the love and support” from his fans.
He described the allegations as “falsehood and fabricated news” and warned those spreading such misinformation to desist or face legal consequences.
The controversy began when Damilola claimed that her father was being held against his will by his manager and stepbrother, Dayo Adegeye, and was being exploited financially. She alleged that King Sunny Ade was being moved between hotels, administered sleeping pills, and denied access to his family.
However, Dayo Adegeye dismissed these claims as “false and unfounded,” stating that King Sunny Ade recently performed at a private event in Lagos and is scheduled for another performance in Akure.
Another son, Emperor Adegeye, also refuted Damilola’s allegations, emphasizing that their father is in good health and not under any duress.
Despite these assurances, Damilola continues to express concerns over her father’s well-being, insisting that he is being manipulated and calling for authorities to investigate the matter.
As the situation unfolds, fans and the public await further updates from the family and relevant authorities.
