Update: Four arrested as Police probe death, rape of 2-year-old girl in Bauchi
The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended four individuals in relation to the tragic de@th of a two-year-old girl in the Ningi Local Government Area.
The incident was reported as a case of rape leading to the child’s demise.
Among those arrested are the child’s mother, 17-year-old Lauratu Saleh, and father, 23-year-old Abubakar Usman, along with a chemist who provided initial medical assistance and a relative who helped transport the child’s remains to her father.
Spokesman of the Command, Ahmed Wakili, confirmed the arrests, stating that they were made following thorough investigations.
While addressing journalists during the parade of the suspects at the Command headquarters on Friday, Wakili revealed that a discreet investigation had led to the arrest of these individuals, who are now assisting in the investigation of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Wakili also mentioned that the Command is looking into an alleged case of rape connected to the child’s death, as a medical doctor at the Ningi General Hospital has confirmed evidence of sexual assault on the deceased child.
RAB recalls that the corpse of a two-year old girl was found wrapped in clothes and dumped within the premises of a Mosque in an area known as Newada in Ningi, headquarters of Ningi LGA two days ago.
