Tinubu to seek for two-state solution in Israel-Palestine crisis
Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting a two-state solution as a means to resolve the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine. It is also urging an immediate ceasefire in the current crisis between Israel and Gaza.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to articulate these positions at the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, which commences today in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
President Tinubu made his arrival in Riyadh on Wednesday, November 6, following an invitation from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga has confirmed that the president will address the escalating violence in the Middle East, emphasizing Nigeria’s call for an immediate ceasefire and a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
Nigeria will champion renewed diplomatic efforts aimed at reviving the two-state solution as a viable path towards peace in the region. The Nigerian delegation accompanying the president includes prominent figures such as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris; and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
