Three persons have been confirmed de@d after a helicopter ditched into the waters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Channel Television reports that the incident took place at 11:22 am on Thursday, along the waterways in Port Harcourt.
The helicopter, a Sikorsky SK76 with registration number 5NBQG, was on a flight from Port Harcourt Military Base (DNPM) to the Nuimantan oil rig.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Odutayo Oluseyi, confirmed that there were eight people on board.
The helicopter sank near Bonny Finima in the Atlantic Ocean, with the authorities confirming that rescue operations have already been initiated.
