Teenage girl sells 7-year-old brother in Delta
A 15-year-old girl has allegedly betrayed her 7-year-old brother to a man in the Agbarho Community, located in the Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The shocking revelation emerged on Friday morning when local residents confronted her and forced her to confess through physical means.
Sources indicate that the girl’s father is from the Orhoakpor Community. The girl claimed she sold her brother to an Hausa man in Agbarho, stating, “I provided them with my account number. They told me to leave, assuring me that the money would be transferred to my account before they began searching for the child.”
The girl, who is a twin, faced a near-fatal situation as an angry mob nearly set her on fire. Fortunately, Anthony Oboroh, the former Chairman of Ethiope-East Local Government, intervened and contacted the police to apprehend the individuals who allegedly purchased the child.
He urged the furious crowd to spare her life, emphasizing that the parents should not have to endure the loss of two children. As of this report, the 7-year-old boy remains unaccounted for.
The children’s parents have declined to comment when approached by our correspondent.
Meanwhile, SP Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, has yet to verify the details of this incident.
