Suspected cultists eliminate three brothers in Awka
Suspected cultists on Friday afternoon k!lled a man identified as Nonso in Awka, the Anambra State capital.
Nonso, the third of three sons in his family, has allegedly lost two brothers in similar incidents, which are often linked to cult activity.
A source reported that Nonso was brutally murdered in broad daylight near the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, NAUTH, better known as Amaku, on Friday afternoon.
According to a trusted family member, Nonso’s k!lling is believed to be connected to the murder of his younger brother, Buchi, who was killed three months ago at MacDon Eatery.
Their eldest brother also met a tragic end in a previous attack, as reported by the source. This series of events has left their mother without a child.
Awka has recently become a hotspot for cult-related violence, with 16 deaths in Nibo and an additional seven in the Ifite Awka area.
Despite numerous promises from law enforcement agencies, the violence continues.
Nnaghe Obono Itam, the Anambra State Police Commissioner, has expressed his condemnation of the latest k!lling and pledged a comprehensive investigation.
“We will leave no stone unturned in apprehending the perpetrators and bringing them to justice,” he said.
In response, the Ezinano Awka Community, led by Ozo Jeff Nweke, has issued a N10 million reward for the capture of the Nibo Massacre perpetrators and has issued a warning to cultists to avoid Awka and its surrounding areas.
