Super Falcons arrive Angers for friendly with France
The players and officials of the Super Falcons, the nine-time African champions from Nigeria, arrived in Angers, France, on Wednesday, setting the stage for the highly anticipated international friendly match against Les Bleues on Saturday.
This will be the second time these two teams will face each other in a friendly match, with their first encounter ending in a loss for the Falcons by eight goals at Le Mans’ Stade Marie-Marvingt on April 6, 2018.
Only the goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, who plays her club football in France, and Mexico- based defender Osinachi Ohale, remain from that squad.
However, the Falcons have faced Les Bleues in the FIFA World Cup finals twice, losing by a single goal in Germany in 2011 and by the same score in Roazhon Park during the 2019 finals in France.
This friendly match is being played as the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) looks to bolster the team following a disappointing performance at the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in France earlier this summer.
