Super Eagles must qualify for 2026 World Cup – Oliseh
Former head coach of the Super Eagles, Sunday Oliseh, has expressed concern over the potential disaster that would ensue if the team fails to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The West African team has yet to secure a victory in their World Cup qualifying group, having played four matches without success.
Augustine Eguavoen’s squad currently finds themselves in the second-to-last position in Group C, trailing behind with just three points.
Oliseh has made it clear that the failure to qualify for the World Cup would be a significant disappointment, especially after missing out on the last tournament in Qatar.
“Africa could be represented by as many as 10 countries at the next World Cup, we’re at the risk of not being one of these countries and it will be a disaster if Nigeria do not qualify,” Oliseh told Supersport TV.
“I was at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar for six weeks working on the FIFA study Group and it was painful that Nigeria were not there.”
The Super Eagles will face Rwanda in their next qualifying match in March 2025.
