Controversial Nigerian singer Speed Darlington, also known as Darlington Okoye, has sparked fresh controversy following his viral celebrity boxing match against fellow musician Portable.
The outspoken entertainer is now accusing Portable of using traditional charms, widely known as juju, during their fighta claim that has reignited debates across Nigerian social media.
However, things took a strange turn after Speed Darlington dramatically pulled out before the second round, citing a dislocated shoulder. He has since taken to social media to share his side of the story, claiming he felt no exhaustion or warning signs and suggesting the injury might have been spiritually induced.
In a video posted to X (formerly Twitter), Speed Darlington questioned the suddenness of his injury. “I wasn’t tired, I didn’t feel anything snap. One minute I was fighting, the next, my shoulder was out. Juju is real,” he said, clearly shaken.
He strongly insinuated that Portable may have used supernatural powers, reigniting old suspicions that often follow controversial public figures in the Nigerian entertainment scene.
The boxing feud between Portable and Speed Darlington wasn’t just for entertainment, it stemmed from real-life drama.
According to reports, Speed Darlington had earlier offered Portable a fee of ₦500,000 to perform at an event. Portable, known for his blunt persona, reportedly felt insulted by the offer and didn’t hold back in making his displeasure known online.
This disrespect allegedly sparked a chain of verbal clashes that ultimately led to their grudge match in the ring.
While Portable emerged victorious in the fight, his second celebrity boxing win after defeating actor Charles Okocha four months ago, it seems the drama is far from over.
