S.African media personality, Kefilwe Mabote, set her luxurious designer clothes on fire after finding Christ
South African media figure, Kefilwe Mabote, has revealed her reasons for setting fire to her high-end designer wardrobe after embracing her faith in Christ.
Recently, she sparked a conversation online by posting a video of herself incinerating her luxury garments.
This act drew criticism from many who felt she should have donated the clothes to those in need instead of destroying them.
In a follow-up Instagram post, Mabote clarified that her decision to burn the items stemmed from her belief that the Bible labels such possessions as “accursed.”
She wrote, “I’ve been getting questions about why I chose to burn Versace items instead of giving them away, and I want to take a moment to explain with care and understanding.
“The decision to burn the items came from a place of conviction. According to the Bible, such things are considered ‘accursed’ (see Joshua 7:13 for context). For example the image of Medusa represents a Greek god, from the marine kingdom and as believers, we cannot serve two masters. To give these items away would be to pass on something I no longer stand for, and I can’t in good conscience transfer things that I know carry deep spiritual implications.”
