Rema, Asake make Barack Obama’s favourite music of 2024
Two Nigerian artists, Rema and Asake, have earned a spot on former U.S. President Barack Obama’s favorite music list for 2024.
On Saturday, Obama unveiled his selection of favorite tracks for the year, which includes Rema’s ‘Yayo’ and Asake’s ‘Active,’ featuring Travis Scott.
Additionally, South African singer Tyla is also recognized with her song ‘Jump,’ featuring Gunna and Skillibeng.
Nigerian-American talents Shaboozey and Jordan Adetunji are included as well, with their tracks ‘A Bar Song’ and ‘Kehlani.’
As expected, prominent artists like Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, and Karol G also made the list, each contributing a standout song.
Sharing his list via X, Obama wrote, “Here are my favorite songs from this year! Check them out if you’re looking to shake up your playlist – and let me know if there’s a song or artist I should make sure to listen to.”
