Police arrest 82 crime suspects in Kano
Kano State Police Command has successfully apprehended 82 suspects connected to a range of criminal activities from November 1 to November 14.
Among the arrested individuals were kidnappers, armed robbers, vi0lent perpetrators, telephonic intruders, and narcotics dealers.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, while addressing newsmen at the command’s headquarters, Bompai, Kano, said the arrests were a result of a crime-busting strategy adopted by the command.
“The implementation of these strategies has yielded positive results as they led to the crackdown on criminal networks such as curtailing remnants of thuggery (Daba) activities within Kano Metropolis.
“Other are dismantling of armed robbery syndicates along Jigawa-Kano and Bauchi-Kano borders and foiling kidnapping incidents along Kaduna-Kano and Katsina-Kano borders.
He further mentioned the recovery of various illicit items, such as one AK-47 rifle, three locally crafted firearms, thirteen cutlasses, and sixteen knives.
In response, the Public Relations Officer for the State Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo, praised the recent accomplishments, highlighting the Command’s dedication to upholding law and order.
He stated that the Command is committed to enhancing its diverse strategies, which include community policing, strategic communication efforts to raise public awareness about security issues, intelligence-led policing, and targeted operations that have effectively dismantled criminal networks, particularly in the state’s border areas.
Furthermore, he acknowledged Governor Abba Yusuf’s generosity in donating 78 patrol vehicles, which will significantly augment the Command’s operational capacity and enhance its response time to the safety needs of the state’s populace.
