Pastor Helen Ukpabio demands N200bn for damages from Bloody Civilian over alleged defamation
Popular Nigerian pastor Helen Ukpabio has issued a $200 billion demand for damages from singer Bloody Civilian, alleging that the musician defamed her.
This dispute arose following Bloody Civilian’s claim that Ukpabio’s Liberty Gospel Church is responsible for “literally making people burn their children alive.”
The tension escalated on Friday when Bloody Civilian posted a comment on a celebration for Pastor Ukpabio’s 60th birthday on a platform, making accusations about Ukpabio’s practices and beliefs.
Furthermore, Bloody Civilian shared a YouTube documentary critical of Ukpabio’s methods and ideology.
In response to the singer’s remarks, Ukpabio’s daughter, Imabong, urged Bloody Civilian to remove the post within 5 hours or face legal repercussions.
However, in a statement from her legal representative, Ukpabio contested the allegations, describing them as “reckless, satanic, and libellous.”
In her demand, Ukpabio seeks $200 billion in damages for distress, trauma, pain, and anguish, along with a public apology from Bloody Civilian.
In response to the lawsuit, Bloody Civilian jokingly suggested offering standup comedy, weddings, and dispute resolution services to help cover the damages.
She wrote, “Guys, they just sued me for 200 billion naira. This December I will be adding the following to my services: standup comedy, weddings and settling disputes.”
