Nigerian Army pulls out 15 retired generals
The Nigerian Army (NA) officially withdrew 15 retired generals from the Artillery Corps on Saturday, October 19, 2024, during a ceremony at the Nigerian Army School of Artillery (NASA) in Kachia, Kaduna State.
In a statement on Sunday, the Army revealed that the group of retirees consisted of 11 Major Generals and 4 Brigadier Generals.
Maj Gen James Myam (retired), speaking on behalf of the retired officers during the ceremony, reflected on their extensive military careers, expressing a sense of fulfillment and gratitude.
He attributed their success to divine grace, recognizing the protection of God throughout their years of service.
He also expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve and thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Taoread Lagbaja, for his continued guidance and support in his leadership of the National Army.
Looking back, Maj Gen Myam recalled the early days of their military careers when they reported as Officer Cadets to the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna.
Offering advice to the officers still serving, he encouraged them to remain loyal to the Constitution and democratically elected government, while maintaining vigilance and a sense of security.
The retired general also thanked the families, spouses, friends, instructors, and mentors who have supported them throughout their careers. The event was attended by several senior retired and serving military officers, including former Chief of Army Staff, Maj Gen Alwali Kazir (retired).
