NAFDAC uncovers fake alcohol packaging factory in Lagos
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has successfully intercepted counterfeit alcohol packaging materials worth N2 billion in Lagos.

In a statement released through its official social media handle on Thursday, NAFDAC announced the dismantling of illegal operations involved in the production of counterfeit alcohol packaging at Article Market in Abule-Osun, Lagos State.

The agency reported that during the operation, more than 50,000 counterfeit labels and packaging materials for fake alcoholic beverages, valued at approximately N2 billion, were seized. It was further revealed that these items were being utilized to manufacture unapproved and potentially hazardous alcoholic products.

“We warn about the severe health risks of counterfeit alcohol, including poisoning and organ damage.
“Consumers are advised to purchase alcoholic beverages only from trusted vendors and report any suspicious activities to the nearest our office,” NAFDAC said.
This operation comes just days after NAFDAC successfully confiscated counterfeit wines valued at N41.2 million in Nasarawa State.
