Manchester United and Eriksen to part ways by end of season
Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen is expected to depart from the club at the conclusion of the current season, as reported by recent sources.
The Danish international, who was a part of Denmark’s 2-1 loss to Spain in the UEFA Nations League match on Friday, has shown no interest in renewing his contract.
Football journalist Fabrizio Romano, known for his insights on the sport, shared that negotiations for Eriksen’s contract extension have not been initiated. Romano also mentioned that the views of Sporting CP manager Rúben Amorim could play a role in Eriksen’s future decisions.
“No negotiations taking place over a new deal, while Rúben Amorim’s opinion will also be considered, but Eriksen’s expected to leave,” Romano stated.
Eriksen, 32, joined Manchester United in 2022 without a contract, making his way into the team as a free agent. Given the lack of any signs of an extension, it seems that Eriksen’s time at Old Trafford will end after just two seasons.
This announcement signifies another significant milestone in Eriksen’s extensive career, which has seen him play for teams like Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan, Brentford, and his remarkable return to the sport following a cardiac arrest during the 2021 European Championship.
