Manchester City’s Rodri ‘is out for the rest of the season with a cruciate ligament rupture’
Manchester City’s star midfielder, Rodri, has reportedly been sidelined for the rest of the season following reports in Spain that he suffered a torn cruciate ligament in his right knee during his team’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal.
According to MARCA, the City player sustained a cruciate ligament tear during the Sunday’s match at the Etihad Stadium. They indicate that a more definitive diagnosis will be available later this week, and the midfielder is expected to undergo tests in Spain.
The Spanish midfielder went down clutching his leg in agony just 16 minutes into the Premier League clash, battling for the ball against Arsenal’s Thomas Partey in his own penalty area.
The 28-year-old suffered a painful fall on the field, yet managed to conceal his tears as he limped away with the City’s medical team.
MARCA has stated that the Spaniard is on his way to Madrid for a new examination to confirm the severity of his injury. He also intends to consult with several specialists to decide whether to proceed with the operation.
His absence will be a significant blow to Man City, as Rodri’s presence has been instrumental in helping the team secure their last four Premier League titles.
