Manchester United are edging closer to completing a major summer transfer move for Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, according to new reports.
The Brazilian star, who has impressed at Molineux this season, is high on United’s radar as the club gears up for a major rebuild under incoming manager Ruben Amorim.
Per Mail Sport, United must still activate Cunha’s £62.5 million release clause to secure the deal, but sources suggest talks have already taken place. Amorim is believed to have personally spoken with Cunha—first at Wolves’ ground and again during last weekend’s match at Old Trafford, where Wolves stunned United with a 1-0 victory.
The 25-year-old forward has caught the attention of top clubs across Europe with his creative play, quick feet, and eye for goal. Cunha has become a fan favorite at Wolves, but his rising stock means a move to a Champions League-contending side looks increasingly likely this summer.
Manchester United are not alone in their pursuit. Newcastle United are reportedly preparing a bid of their own, with manager Eddie Howe keen on deploying Cunha on the left flank to support star striker Alexander Isak. That could spark a bidding war between the two Premier League giants.
Ruben Amorim is also said to be monitoring Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, who has had an impressive debut Premier League campaign. The young Englishman, on loan from Manchester City, has netted 12 goals and is expected to be available for just £30 million if Ipswich face relegation.
With the summer transfer window fast approaching, United’s hierarchy is determined to back Amorim in reshaping the squad. Securing Cunha would mark a bold statement of intent, as the club looks to bounce back from a disappointing season and reestablish itself as a dominant force in English football.
