Man United captain, Bruno Fernandes breaks player silence on Erik ten Hag’s sacking
Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes, has finally spoken out about the sacking of Erik Ten Hag as the team’s manager.
Earlier this week, United announced Ten Hag’s departure following their 2-1 defeat to West Ham, a team currently struggling in the Premier League, sitting in 14th place after just 11 points from their first nine matches.
In a statement, the club expressed their gratitude to Ten Hag for his contributions, highlighting his achievements, including leading the team to two domestic trophies—the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024. The statement concluded with a wish for Ten Hag’s future success.
In the wake of Ten Hag’s departure, interim coach Ruud van Nistelrooy has been appointed, and there is speculation he could be the frontrunner for the permanent position. Other candidates in the running include Julian Nagelsmann, Gareth Southgate, Thomas Frank, and Ruben Almiron.
Fernandes, who has come under fire for his performances in recent weeks and months, acknowledged the club’s poor form and thanked the departed Dutchman for his services.
Fernandes wrote on Instagram: “Thanks for everything, boss! I appreciate the trust and the moments we share together, I wish you all the best.
“Even knowing the last period hasn’t been great from all of us, I hope you fans can keep with you the good things Erik has done for our club.”
