Man convicted for sending his 11 year-old son to rob and k!ll rapper PnB Rock gets 31 years to life
A man convicted of the murder and robbery of American rapper PnB Rock at a well-known Los Angeles restaurant has been sentenced to life in prison.
A jury found Freddie Lee Trone, 42, guilty of one murder, two robberies, and conspiracy to commit robbery last month. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Connie Quinones announced his sentence Monday at the Compton Courthouse.
Prosecutors alleged that Trone instructed his 17-year-old son to rob the rapper, who was dining with his 4-year-old daughter’s mother at Roscoe’s Chicken ’N Waffles, a popular spot frequented by celebrities in South Los Angeles on September 12, 2022.
At the time, Los Angeles police reported that an armed robber confronted PnB Rock, who was engaged in a dispute over the robbery, resulting in the theft of jewelry and a fatal shooting. The teenager was charged with murder and is currently being held in a juvenile facility, with a judge determining he is not competent to stand trial.
Trone’s defense attorney, Winston McKesson, has stated his intention to appeal the conviction, arguing that there is no concrete evidence linking the father to the crime, including physical items or communication.
