Man arrested for allegedly setting his wife ablaze in Ogun
The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a man, identified as Olubunmi Johnson, on charges of allegedly setting his wife, Kikelomo, on fire in their apartment.
The incident took place in their residence on Fagbuyi Street, Ilogbo, Ota, around 8:30 p.m. on Friday night, following a domestic dispute.
It was reported that a neighbor who witnessed the incident immediately alerted the victim’s family, who then contacted the police. The case is now under investigation as an attempted murder.
SP Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed the details of the incident.
Odutola mentioned that police officers from the Ilogbo Division swiftly responded to the scene, leading to the arrest of the 55-year-old suspect.
“The husband doused his wife’s body with petrol and set her on fire with a match. Witnesses to the incident immediately rushed her to the hospital,” she stated.
“Upon receiving the report, our detectives quickly took action and arrested the husband, who has since been detained.”
