Lagos Attorney General confirms receipt of US toxicology report on late singer Mohbad
The Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Lawal Pedro, SAN, has announced the receipt of the toxicology report and other forensic analyses conducted in the United States on the late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad.
During a press conference held at the Ministry of Justice Conference Room in Alausa on Monday, Pedro announced that the autopsy report was now in the possession of the pathologist for Lagos State and the coroner magistrate.
Pedro recognized the delays in the investigation, citing the thoroughness of the forensic processes as a contributing factor.
“On the Mohbad’s case, yes, I agree there has been a delay, and the delay is caused by the time taken for investigation,” he stated.
He underscored the criticality of thorough investigative methods, encompassing forensic analysis and toxicology, to guarantee that any case presented in court is fortified with the requisite evidence to secure a conviction.
“Forensic analysis, toxicology, all these are part of the investigation. A full-proof investigation is essential for leading to a conviction in any case that is presented before the courts,” Pedro added.
“The delay is now with Mohbad’s family who have indicated that they would like to conduct their independent autopsy but despite this, the trial will soon commence and the court will do justice in the matter,” the AG said.
