Kano Govt donates N100 million to Borno flood victims
The Kano State Government has generously donated N100 million to assist victims of the recent floods that have devastated certain areas of Borno State.
The cheque, amounting to N100 million, was handed over to the Governor of Borno State, Baba Halilu Dantiye, by the Commissioner of Information from Kano State, Baba Halilu Dantiye, in Maiduguri on Sunday.
The delegation also included the Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Eradication, Hajiya Amina Sani, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Policy and Social Development, Dr. Danyaro Yakasai.
They paid a sympathy visit to the government and people of Borno state on behalf of Governor Yusuf.
Governor Yusuf expressed heartfelt compassion for the victims, calling the humanitarian disaster “catastrophic,” and urged wider assistance for those impacted.
He stressed the need for joint efforts in dealing with such tragedies and reiterated Kano State’s sympathy with Borno during this tough period. He also prayed to Allah to avoid similar floods from occurring again.
Governor Yusuf highlighted the longstanding, brotherly, and cordial relationship between Kano and Borno States.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the flood and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
In response, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum expressed profound gratitude to the Kano State Government and its people for their generous support.
He assured that the donation would be used judiciously for the benefit of the flood victims, ensuring that it reaches those most in need.
