The elder brother and former manager of the iconic music duo P-Square has regained his freedom after spending more than two months in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
His release was widely celebrated online, especially by his younger brother, Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy, who took to Instagram to express his joy. In his post, Paul stated:
“Jude is finally out after 2 months, all their efforts to frustrate his bail has finally collapsed. Welcome home brother @judeengees. And happy birthday.”
Paul’s statement was accompanied by a video showing the emotional moment Jude’s wife, Ifeoma Okoye, welcomed him home with a hug.
Jude Okoye had been arraigned by the EFCC on charges relating to an alleged money laundering case involving:
- ₦1.38 billion
- $1 million
- £34,537.59
The case also named Northside Music Limited, Jude’s company, as a co-defendant. He was formally charged on seven counts and has maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings.
According to reports, the petition that led to Jude’s arrest and prosecution was filed by his younger brother, Peter Okoye, sparking widespread attention due to the family connection and past internal conflicts among the former P-Square members.
Jude was granted bail on March 6, but his release was delayed due to challenges in meeting his bail conditions. He has now been released from custody, pending further court proceedings.
The case is ongoing.
