Jay-Z accused in s3xual assault lawsuit, rapper reacts
US rapper and entrepreneur Shawn Carter, widely known as Jay-Z, has been implicated in a lawsuit filed by a woman who claims she was sexually assaulted by him and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
The woman, referred to as Jane Doe, originally brought the lawsuit against Diddy in October but recently included Jay-Z as a defendant.
Diddy is currently in custody following his indictment on charges related to sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty and denies any wrongdoing in approximately 30 civil lawsuits against him.
The plaintiff alleges that when she was just 13 years old, she was assaulted by both Diddy and Jay-Z at an after-party for the Video Music Awards in 2000. She claims that after drinking at the event, she felt disoriented and went to a nearby bathroom, where she was first raped by Jay-Z, followed by Diddy.
In her amended lawsuit, she recounts how she struck Diddy and fled the party. Her legal team has reached out to Jay-Z’s representatives to seek mediation in hopes of resolving the situation.
Reacting in a statement, Jay-Z called the allegations “so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whoever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?”
He shared that his only heartbreak is for his family, saying: “My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people.
“I mourn yet another loss of innocence. Children should not have to endure such at their young age.”
