Immigration preventing me from leaving Nigeria — Sowore
The 2023 presidential candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has leveled accusations against the Nigerian Immigration Service, claiming they harassed him at the airport.
Sowore alleged that the Immigration Service tried to block his departure from Nigeria, citing his name on their watchlist as the reason.
He shared this information in a statement posted on his social media page, accompanied by a video.
He wrote: “The Nigerian Immigration Service #nigimmigration continues to subject me to unwarranted harassment and abuse. Violating my rights repeatedly.
“Today, again, they stopped me on my way out of Nigeria, claiming I am placed on their WATCHLIST!”
In September, Sowore was arrested at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos State.
He revealed that upon his arrival, he was detained by the NIS and his international passport was confiscated.”
