I’m not afraid of EFCC, will hand over myself if they call me – Obaseki
The outgoing Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has expressed his readiness to face the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) should he be invited to testify about his state’s financial management.
During a speech at the EdoBEST National Results-Sharing Session in Abuja on Wednesday, November 6, Obaseki stated, “I have nothing to hide, and I would willingly surrender myself to the anti-graft agency if necessary.”
“I’m not afraid of the EFCC. Why should I be? What is important is focus. I came into office and ignored the noise, concentrating on what I felt was important, and today you can see the results. If the EFCC calls on me, I will hand myself over; I have nothing to hide,” he said.
Obaseki, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, has served two terms as Edo State’s governor and will step down on November 12, handing over the reins to his successor, Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress.
