I felt my dreams were shattered – Biodun Okeowo recounts how she was judged and labeled for being a single mother as she shares her wedding story
Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo shared a heartfelt wedding journey with her fans.
In an extensive post on her Instagram, she reminisced about her childhood dreams of donning a stunning white wedding gown and celebrating a cozy garden ceremony with her prince charming. However, life had other plans for her.
Biodun reflected on her mother, a devoted Christian and prayer warrior, who wished for her only daughter to have a traditional wedding with the bride price honored. Sadly, circumstances led to a different reality. The most painful part of her wedding day, she shared, was the absence of her mother to witness the occasion.
As a mother of two, she expressed how she felt her dreams were crushed when she became a single mother, facing judgment and stigma. Yet, she emphasized that God transformed her narrative. Her children, she declared, are her greatest blessings, affirming that God’s timing is always perfect.
Using her own experiences as an example, she encouraged others to hold on, reminding them that even in the darkest moments, there is always a glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel. She offered prayers for those seeking divine intervention in their lives.
She wrote:
“A BIT OF MY STORY!
As a young girl, I always dreamed of wearing a beautiful white wedding dress and having an intimate garden ceremony, a simple, elopement-style wedding with just me and my Prince Charming. No crowds.
Hmmmm! My mom, a staunch Christian and prayer warrior, always hoped her only daughter would marry properly, with her bride price paid. But life took a different turn, it didn’t go as we planned. I remember days when my mom and I would talk about how colorful my wedding day would be.
My biggest pain on my wedding day was that my mom wasn’t there to witness it. RIP, Mom! I miss you deeply, and no one can ever fill your void. The tears from you not being here anymore are tears I’m not sure will ever dry!
As a single mom, I once felt my dreams were shattered. I was judged and labeled, but God rewrote my story. My children are the greatest gifts of my life. God never makes mistakes. He does everything at the right time.
Today, I celebrate God for blessing me with the man of my dreams, the children I prayed for, and the family I longed for.
Rejoice with me, and if you desire a similar testimony, tap into it because I’ve gone through my share of heartbreaks and sheges, but God came through, giving me exactly what I prayed for.
No matter how dark the tunnel may seem, there’s always light at the end.
I pray for everyone crying out to God for a change. He will rewrite your story, and your testimony shall be permanent! Amen
To God, all be the glory!
Happy New Year!”.
