Hackers hacked into my NGO website and moved N180m – VeryDarkMan says after losing NGO website to hackers
Social critic Martins Vincent Otse, widely recognized as Very Dark Man (VDM), has reported that hackers infiltrated his NGO’s website, resulting in the theft of N180 million from its account.
In a video posted on his Instagram this morning, VDM revealed that the police are actively investigating the incident, with one of the suspects already apprehended in Jos, Plateau State. He mentioned that he and a police officer were en route to Jos to further address the situation.
“I would be honest with you guys. For the past few days, I have not been myself. Somebody hacked into the NGO website and I don’t know how they did it. N180 million is missing. Thankfully, we’ve tracked the person, and we are on our way to Jos. They have arrested one. The account has been put on PND (Post No Debit). The account now has N20 million.” he said
VDM also disclosed that his NGO’s account now holds only N20 million. To safeguard against additional breaches, he has temporarily suspended the NGO’s app for maintenance and assured followers that he will keep them updated on developments.
On October 14, 2024, he launched the Martins Vincent Otse Initiative, which garnered an impressive N33 million in donations from generous Nigerians within just 24 hours. Notably, music executive Don Jazzy contributed a remarkable N100 million to support VDM’s NGO.
