Gunmen suspected of being kidnappers have abducted Ven. David Arinze Ajaefobi, an Archdeacon of Oyi Central Archdeaconry and Vicar of St James’ Parish in Awkuzu, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.
It was reported that Ajaefobi was abducted at the church’s gate around 9:30 pm on Saturday, October 26, 2024.
His abductors have reportedly not made any contact since the incident occurred.
The spokesperson for the police in the state, Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the command had not received the report regarding the incident.
However, a senior police officer confirmed the incident to journalists on Sunday.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Diocese on the Niger, Anglican Communion, Rev. Ajaefobi was inducted as the vicar of St. James Parish on April 10, 2022.
