The Acting Head of the Audit Department at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, Adeniyi Oluwaseun, tragically took his own life by jumping into a well located in the Obantoko area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Reports indicate that this heartbreaking event occurred on Sunday evening, shortly after he had finished his dinner. While the exact reasons behind his decision remain unclear, sources suggest that Adeniyi had been struggling with mental health issues and had sought treatment in the past.
His body was later retrieved from the well and has been taken to a morgue for further arrangements.
Segun Orisajo, the Head of Public Relations and Communication Unit at FMC Abeokuta, confirmed the incident on Tuesday, expressing that Adeniyi was a dedicated and loyal employee, and his unexpected passing has left the entire hospital community in shock.
He said “It is true that he committed suicide. It was an unfortunate incident. The management feels saddened about this development.
“The unfortunate incident caught the entire management off guard. It is a quiet and irreparable loss.The management extends its heartfelt condolences to the department, as well as to the immediate and extended family members of the deceased”.
