Fleeing driver arrested over Ondo caterer’s murd*r
Authorities have apprehended the driver of the late Akure-based caterer, Monsurat Debbie Olakunbi Adene, who had been on the run after k*lling her.
The 54-year-old woman was reportedly brutally mu*dered in her own house on Oda Road in Akure on July 25, 2024, five days after her birthday.
The victim’s personal assistant, Philip Emmanuel, was earlier arrested in Akure after police detectives tracked her two Android phones stolen by him and the driver after k*lling her.
Emmanuel, 17, who is now facing murder accusations, was remanded to Olokuta Correctional Centre seeking legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
In his confessional testimony to the police, Emmanuel stated that they mu*dered their employer after she arranged a lavish supper for them two days after her birthday.
According to him, their supervisor decided to take them to a lunch to show appreciation for their excellent performance at her party. They joined together to k*ll her after they finished her supper.
The driver was believed to have supplied the weapons used to hack her to death.
At the time of filling this report, the circumstances behind the driver’s arrest were unclear.
