Fire razes Zamfara Speaker’s residence
A section of the Speaker’s residence at the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hon. Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, was severely damaged by a fire in Gusau, the State’s capital.
The incident took place over the weekend.
Fortunately, there were no reported casualties, but the damage amounted to properties valued millions of Naira.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Bello Madaro, the Clerk of the House, Alhaji Mahmud Aliyu, expressed shock on behalf of the Assembly and its staff, calling the incident a tragic calamity.
Alhaji Mahmud Aliyu likened the fire to an act of God, extending his sympathies to the Speaker, his family, and the constituents of Zurmi West.
Since the incident, numerous political figures and well-wishers have visited the Speaker to offer their condolences.
The Speaker expressed gratitude to Allah that no life was lost and thanked all those who helped to contain the fire.
