Fire razes Ajah market in Lagos
Millions of Naira’s worth of goods have been destroyed following a fire that erupted on Sunday evening, November 3, at Ajah Market, located near the Alesh Bus Stop in the Lekki area of Lagos State.
The blaze reportedly began around 9 pm and engulfed several shops and stores filled with flammable materials.
Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), stated that the agency, in partnership with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, responded quickly to the situation.
However, the cause of the fire remains a mystery at this point.
There were no casualties or injuries reported because the market was closed on Sunday.
“The LASEMA Response Team, along with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, managed to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring buildings,” Oke-Osanyintolu reported. “Efforts are ongoing to completely extinguish the fire and salvage remaining valuables.”
