FA fines Chelsea following their 2-1 victory over Newcastle United
The Football Association (FA) has imposed a £75,000 fine on Chelsea for accumulating six yellow cards during their 2-1 victory over Newcastle United on Sunday, as reported by sports journalist Kieran Gill.
This marks the third time this season that Chelsea has been issued with six yellow cards in a single match.
The match began with Chelsea taking the lead in the 18th minute through Nicolas Jackson.
However, Newcastle United drew level in the 32nd minute through thanks to Alexander Isak’s 32nd-minute strike.
In the second half, Cole Palmer scored the winning goal, securing a 3-0 victory for his team.
Yet, Chelsea’s disciplinary issues have now resulted in a third fine this season.
Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, Christopher Nkunku, Weskey Fofana, Romeo Lavia, Pedro Neto, and Noni Madueke were all issued yellow cards during the game.
The Blues had similar disciplinary issues in the 1-0 win over Bournemouth, where they received eight cautions and were handed a £25,000 fine.
The London giants registered six yellow cards in the 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest earlier this month and were fined £50,000 by the FA.
Following the latest incident, Chelsea have now been fined £150,000 in total for disciplinary issues this season.
This makes them the first team in the Premier League to receive six yellow cards or more in three consecutive games.
