EFCC apprehends 28 alleged internet fraudsters in Uyo, Benin
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), EFCC, has apprehended a total of 28 suspected internet fraudsters across Akwa Ibom and Edo states.
In a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja, the spokesman for EFCC, Dele Oyewale, disclosed this development.
Oyewale said they were arrested at different locations on October 7, in a sting operation following credible intelligence on their fraudulent internet activities.
He revealed that a total of 13 suspects were apprehended in the Nwaniba area of Uyo, Akwa Ibom, while another 15 were taken into custody in Benin City, Edo.
He further disclosed that among the items seized from the suspects in Akwa Ibom were two Lexus 350 saloon cars and a Toyota Camry V6.
Additionally, a Toyota Corolla, six laptops, and 20 smartphones were recovered.
He said that items recovered from the suspects from Benin included four exotic cars, laptops and phones.
He concluded by stating that the suspects will face court proceedings as soon as the investigations are concluded.
