Don’t hop on trends, stick to your divine calling – Tosin Bee tells gospel artists
Gospel music artist Adejumobi Oluwatosin Akinkunmi, better known as Tosin Bee, has encouraged fellow gospel music ministers to stay true to their divine calling rather than chasing trends.
The Olabisi Onabanjo University graduate shared this advice during a recent interview, emphasizing that Jesus should be the central message of any gospel music minister, not their own self-promotion.
In the same interview, Tosin Bee opened up about his musical background, revealing that his talent for music runs in the family. His grandfather was a renowned singer, and he began his musical journey with ‘Da Roots’, a trio that included himself, Rumide, and Sam. Together, they spread their unique style of gospel music across the western states of the country.
“However the group disbanded due to individual career pursuit. It was at this point I decided to forge on and make a career out of music”.
For Tosin, his inspiration comes from the Word of God, and his drive for excellence motivates him to push boundaries.
He shared the challenges he faced early in his career, including financial struggles and the uncertainty that comes with a genre of music that differs from the mainstream.
” I was afraid people may not really flow with it but God has shown Himself mightily. It’s been from glory to glory. Always pushing me a notch higher,” he said.
Mr. Adejumobi while hinting on his upcoming projects and collaborations says ” I have a lot of things in the works.
“I just released an 8-track EP not too long ago and it’s doing amazingly well. I have songs ready to be released collaborating with top gospel artistes in Nigeria and outside of Nigeria.
” I kick-started the Praise Unlimited tour last year and it has been amazing. I’ll be doing more of that, going from country to country spreading the gospel of Christ through music.
” I’ll also diversify into other parts of music. In addition, I also have a music production studio. I’m also building a hub for creatives where you can come create content and also collaborate with like minds to birth something that will stand the test of time”, he added.
