Donald Trump declares victory
Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican Party nominee, has declared his ambition to “make America great again” as he gears up to win the ongoing presidential election.
During his speech on Wednesday, while addressing supporters in Florida following his securing of 266 electoral college votes—nearing a victory over Kamala Harris of the Democratic Party, who currently holds 219 electoral college votes—Trump articulated his vision.
“This is the greatest political movement of all time.
“We are going to help our country heal. We are going to fix our border.
“Our country was devastated before. I want to thank the American people for electing me as the 45th President and now the 47th President of the US.
“This will be the golden age of America,” he declared.
“This victory will make America great again,” he reaffirmed.
With a count of 270 electoral college votes, Trump will be officially declared the winner of the historic US election. The Republican Party is also expected to secure control of the Senate.
