‘Coming To America’ and ‘Good Times’ Star, John Amos passes at 84
John Amos, one of the stars of ‘Good Times,’ has passed away at the age of 84.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amos’ son, Kelly Christoper Amos, revealed his passing in a statement reportedly shared on Tuesday, October 1.
“It is with heartfelt sadness that I share with you that my father has transitioned,” K.C. reportedly explained. “He was a man with the kindest heart and a heart of gold… and he was loved the world over. Many fans consider him their TV father. He lived a good life. His legacy will live on in his outstanding works in television and film as an actor…”
In his statement, K.C. briefly reflected on his father’s work as an actor, per Deadline.
“My father loved working as an actor throughout his entire life… most recently in ‘Suits LA’ playing himself and our documentary about his life journey as an actor, ‘America’s Dad.’ He was my dad, my best friend, and my hero,” he reportedly added. “Thank you for your prayers and support at this time.”
John Amos, another day, another soul that I admired has left the planet. It was my pleasure to not only watch you be a strong, loving, and present black father on Good Times but it was also a great honor to work with you on one of my films. Thank you for all the laughs and all the smiles you brought into my difficult young life. I will forever remember you. Tyler Perry wrote.

May God rest his soul.
