China has raised its tariffs on the United States to 84 percent, an increase from the previous 34 percent, effective April 10.
This move follows US President Donald Trump’s nearly twofold hike in duties on Chinese goods.
It is noteworthy that global markets have experienced a decline in reaction to Trump’s recent tariffs, which were implemented on Wednesday.
In response, China’s foreign ministry urged the US to cease its “arrogant and bullying behavior” following the enforcement of Trump’s 104% duties on Chinese imports.
Spokesperson Lin Jian from the Chinese foreign ministry stated that the US has been applying tariffs on China “indiscriminately.”
The spokesperson emphasized that the US should embrace an approach characterized by equality, respect, and mutual benefit if it genuinely seeks to address the issue through dialogue and negotiation.
