Bomb explosion rocks Zamfara
A bomb explosion in Zamfara State has resulted in fatalities and injuries.
The event took place along the Gusau-Dansadau road within the Maru Local Government Area.
Reports indicate that the explosive device, allegedly planted by bandits, detonated in a heavily trafficked area of the road.
The attack targeted both travelers and local residents.
This information was shared on Wednesday by Zagazola Makama, an expert in counterterrorism and insurgency in the Lake Chad Basin, through a post on his X account.
Makama noted that this incident, being the second bomb explosion on this route, marks a concerning change in the strategies utilized by bandits in Zamfara.
He emphasized that the deployment of explosives represents a new and heightened level of insecurity in the region.
“Traditionally known for their activities such as kidnapping, cattle rustling, and armed attacks, the use of explosives introduces a new level of insecurity in the region,” the security expert noted.
