AFCON 2025Q: 10 Benin Republic players arrive camp ahead of Super Eagles clash
Ten players from the Ten Cheetahs of Benin Republic have arrived in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, for this week’s Group D AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
The ten players who arrived on Monday morning, November 11, are among the 26 players unveiled by head coach Gernot Rohr for Benin’s qualifiers against the Super Eagles and Libya. After four games in the group, Benin Republic is currently second on six points, just four points behind the Eagles.
When both teams met in June, Benin Republic emerged victorious from a goal down, beating the Eagles 2-1 on matchday 4.
However, the Eagles managed to avenge their earlier defeat with a 3-0 win in Uyo on matchday 1 of the AFCON qualifiers. The Cheetahs are hopeful to replicate their success in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying against the three-time AFCON winners.
Two teams will qualify from the group for next year’s AFCON in Morocco.
