Popular Nigerian actor and filmmaker, Ibrahim Yekini, better known by his stage name Itele, has taken a stand against recent backlash from certain fans following his public praise for music artist Wizkid.
In response, Itele has encouraged his Instagram followers to refrain from engaging in online feuds over their differing musical preferences.
He clarified that his support for Wizkid has never compromised his loyalty to his other favorite artists, emphasizing that his passion for Wizkid’s music is no different from his previous musical inclinations.
Itele has urged his loyal fans to show affection and positivity instead of criticism.
“I’ve been noticing some reactions lately because I’ve been posting Wizkid’s music. To those who feel upset, I want to say this: we shouldn’t attack each other just because I chose my favorite artist. If you know me well, you’ll understand that this is my style. I love something or someone, and I show it openly. That’s how I believe love should be expressed.
“For my true supporters, you’ll know that I often use different music on my page, and it’s always been about sharing what inspires me. So please, don’t dislike me for loving Wizkid! And don’t stop loving me for being true to myself.
“At the end of the day, it’s all about love and positivity. Let’s spread more of that. Fam, the next slide is the message behind this caption”, he wrote on Instagram.
