Abducted NDLEA officers regain freedom in Delta
Two officers from the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) who were kidnapped in Delta State have been released.
The officers were abducted by gunmen on Thursday night, some distance from the agency’s head office, which is located off the Isah-Ogwashi-Uku Road in Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesperson for NDLEA, Delta State Command, Mr. John Kennedy, confirmed the development to the press on Monday in Asaba, saying the officers were released on Sunday night after significant pressure from the agency and other sister agencies.
“I want to confirm the release of our officers, they were released on Sunday night after much pressure from the agency and other sister agencies,” he said.
“The senior officer was not abducted along with his orderly as it was reported, the senior officer was abducted and another officer was abducted in another location entirely.”
While expressing gratitude to other sister agencies for their efforts that led to the officers’ release, the NDLEA spokesperson did not comment on whether or not any ransoms were paid for their freedom.
