The Imo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the unfortunate demise of two unidentified actors in Owerri, the state capital, following a meal of rice and wine consumed on Friday, April 18.
Reports emerged on Friday night that four actors were rushed to the Federal University Teaching Hospital Owerri, where two were pronounced dead upon arrival.
The deceased and others had just finished shooting a film when they partook in a house party, enjoying rice and wine supplied by an unnamed director.
In the early hours of Friday, the two actors were found lifeless.
According to Leadership, a source named Kaito Karisia stated that the movie director who provided the food and drinks had gone to bed early, leaving the four actors and three women partying. He reportedly woke up in the early hours to shut down the power generator and switch to the city’s mains power, only to find two of them already dead and the remaining two struggling to breathe.
Karisia reported that the two remaining male survivors are currently undergoing treatment at the Federal Teaching Hospital Owerri, where they were promptly taken.
He shared that one of the survivors recounted that “Their host, the movie director, offered them rice, which everyone ate. Later, he brought out a bottle of Calypso and some wine. They took a sip but never drank any more. The other two men, who are now deceased, finished the drink.”
The movie director along with the three women inside the apartment have been detained and are being questioned, as investigators proceed with their inquiry.
