The administration of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has terminated the employment of three faculty members amid allegations of sexual harassment.
The lecturers in question include Mr. Nurudeen Hassan from the Mass Communication Department, along with Mr. Kareem Arigbabu and Mr. Olayinka Uthman from the Arts & Design Department.
In a communication labeled DISMISSAL OF STAFF MEMBERS DUE TO SEXUAL HARASSMENT ALLEGATIONS, the university announced that the resolution was made following discussions by the Governing Council in line with Section 5.5.2(v) of the University Senior Staff Conditions of Service.
“The Governing Council of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has taken decisive action in response to allegations of s3xual harassment involving three staff members. After a thorough investigation and deliberation, the council has approved the dismissal,” the memo stated.
“This decision, which is effective immediately, is in accordance with Section 5.5.2(v) of the University Senior Staff Conditions of Service,” it continued.
The memo also reiterated LASUSTECH’s commitment to curbing s3xual misconduct, saying, “The university takes allegations of s3xual harassment seriously, as they compromise the institution’s image and disrupt the academic environment. The Governing Council’s decision reflects the university’s commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful campus community.”
