‘We can do it the easy way, or the hard way’ – Donald Trump urges Russia president Putin to end Ukraine w@r or face heavy taxes, sanctions
US President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Russian President Vladimir Putin, urging him to bring the conflict in Ukraine to a swift conclusion, Otherwise, Trump cautioned, Russia could encounter “significant taxes, tariffs, and sanctions.”
On Wednesday, Trump shared his message on Truth Social, indicating that the situation would deteriorate further if the war continues.
“Settle now, and STOP this ridiculous War! IT’S ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE,” Trump urged.
“If we don’t make a ‘deal,’ and soon, I have no other choice but to put high levels of Taxes, Tariffs, and Sanctions on anything being sold by Russia to the United States, and various other participating countries,” he wrote.
“Let’s get this war, which never would have started if I were President, over with! We can do it the easy way, or the hard way and the easy way is always better,” he added. “It’s time to “MAKE A DEAL.” NO MORE LIVES SHOULD BE LOST!!!”
The president who just returned to office promised to bring an end to the nearly three-year-long conflict right at the start of his new term. He expressed his readiness to sit down with both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to negotiate a resolution.
“I’m not looking to hurt Russia. I love the Russian people, and always had a very good relationship with President Putin and this despite the Radical Left’s Russia, Russia, Russia HOAX. We must never forget that Russia helped us win the Second World War, losing almost 60,000,000 lives in the process,” Trump added in his post.
Trump also said Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky has told him that he wants to “make a deal” to end the war.
“Zelensky wants to make a deal. I don’t know if Putin does…. He should make a deal. I think he’s destroying Russia by not making a deal,” he said.
The announcement follows Trump’s recent remarks condemning Putin for persisting with the war, even as reports indicate that over 700,000 Russians have either died or been injured in the conflict. This ongoing strife has also led to a significant downturn in Russia’s economy, with inflation nearing 10%.
