Burna gave police bundles of money’ – Speed Darlington’s lawyer
Lawyer Stan Alieke, representing the embattled singer Speed Darlington, has voiced his exasperation over the ongoing efforts to secure his client’s release from police custody.
This statement comes in light of Darlington’s prolonged detention, despite a court granting him bail on December 23, 2024.
The singer was taken back into custody on November 27, facing accusations of cyberstalking Burna Boy.
Just weeks after his arrest, the Federal High Court in Abuja approved his bail, yet the failure to release him as mandated has ignited anger among his fans and legal representatives.
In a public update on Friday, Alieke expressed that he has utilized all his resources and connections, while also accusing the police of ignoring the Federal High Court’s ruling.
In a viral video posted on his Instagram, the lawyer suggested that Burna Boy may have influenced the police with a bribe to keep Darlington incarcerated.
“We have done everything a lawyer should do to get his clients out. I have even exhausted all my connections. I have reached out to my political friends here in Abuja. The police have refused to obey the court order. There’s no justification for not obeying the court that granted Darlington bail.
“The first time he was arrested in October, Burna came there with his team and I was also there with Akpi and some of my staff. After the meeting, I saw Burna sharing bundles of cash with the police and the police were asking for selfies. I told my staff that, see, if this guy makes a mistake again, these people will drill him.”
